Local School

The Grann Lison schools in Gros Sable Jean-Rabel /Haiti started under a tree. The members of the Gros Sable community so desperately wanted to educate their children that they started a school under a tree. We at the Grann Lison Foundation saw the need for a school in this community and the sprit of “coumbite” of the people and decided that we could help.

With the help of a local church we were able to move these kids from under a tree to inside the church building during the weekdays. We were also able to hire extra teachers. As of December 2006 the children of Gros Sable and the surrounding areas will be moving in to a newly built school. The people of Gros Sable have started a community advisory board to ensure that the school is able to provide their kids with a quality education. For as little as $20.00 U.S per student per year we are able to provide these kids with that quality education.
